Residents of Caballito put together a "caravan" in the neighborhood in protest to the linear park

Residents of Caballito staged a caravan through the streets of that Buenos Aires neighborhood to reiterate their rejection of the work of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires to convert Honorio Pueyrredón avenue into a linear park and called on the residents of the area to participate in a public hearing in which the urban initiative of the ruling party will be discussed.

The mobilization started after 7:00 p.m. at the Cid Campeador monument, from where the line of cars and bicycles departed with the sloganss “Open Honorius” and “Do not destroy Honorius”.

The opposition of the neighborhood group refers to the project for a section of a Caballito avenue to be transformed into a linear park, which is stopped by a court order that considered that the Buenos Aires administration did not comply with the previous steps established for this type of road works.

In this framework, last week the Community Board, which has a majority of members of Together for Change, called a public hearing so that citizens can express their opinion on the linear park, which will be held on June 30 in a hall of a commercial premises in Caballito.

“This public hearing should have been held before the bidding for the work that the Buenos Aires government began five months ago and for which Honorio Pueyrredón illegally closed. Now, after three unfavorable rulings for the Buenos Aires government, they are doing this acting,” said a neighbor. .

However, they announced that they are going to attend the meeting and, in that sense, they also held the protest this Wednesday to “invite the neighborhood to participate in the public hearing.”
