This Thursday, residents of Buena Vista block the route that connects Santa Cruz with Cochabamba for the third consecutive day. At least three sectors have complied with the blockade since Monday and warn that they will not give in until their demand is met.
The Promoter Committee of the Santa Cruz Kilometer 13 Highway Project, Las Cruces-Buena Vista, Social Control and the Central Única de Campesinos demand the construction of the Buena Vista-Tres Cruces-La Guardia highway section. The measure is complied with by closing the road with sticks, stones and debris.

The leader of the Central Campesina, Adán Loayza, pointed out that their bases decided not to lift the blockade measure and that they will wait for the authorities to summon them to find out the reasons why this road cannot be built, reported Unitel.
The Minister of Public Works, Édgar Montaño, blames the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, for the blockade, since he assures that he did not guarantee the counterpart of 30% of the work.
The highway project has a total investment of 210 million dollars, of which the Government must contribute 70%, which is equal to 140 million, and the Government of Santa Cruz must give a counterpart of 70 million dollars.
