Residents of the Nicarao Cali neighborhood, in the municipality of San Jorge, asked the mayor of that town, Gilma Canales, to repair a section of street that connects the 19 de Julio neighborhood with the Calle Chiquita neighborhood.
The complainants assure that after the rains that have been generated in the department of Rivas, puddles arise that cause the pedestrian crossing to be completely impossible, they also allege that this situation is known to the mayoress of the municipality, but she ignores it.
«The mayoress, Gilma Canales, knows about the situation that we have to face every winter, however, she does not want to pave this section of street that, as it is, causes so much inconvenience to the people who pass through the place or those who live nearby. Here children go to their study centers, just a few meters away there is a secondary school and the building authorities do not give us any response, “complained a citizen.
Those affected allege that suspected cases of dengue have already been reported in the neighborhood and that the only thing the mayor of the municipality of San Jorge does is order the homes to be fumigated, but this activity is not carried out regularly.
“We are tired of mosquitoes, there are any number and they proliferate even more due to the rains and the large puddles that are created. Here in this place, we have to battle with the bad road that exists and that becomes even worse when it rains, with the mosquito breeding sites and with the clandestine garbage dumps that the same foolish people have created”, affirms the resident Maritza Miranda.
Neighborhoods stagnant water
At the time of the journalistic coverage for this note, it was possible to verify that the water that pools on this section of street is not only caused by the constant rains that have been generated in the department of Rivas, but is also due to the wrongdoing of some houses located in the 19 de Julio neighborhood of the municipality of Rivas.
Road becomes impassable for pedestrians who demand to pass through the site.
“Here it is useless for them to come to repair the stretch of street, there are several affected residents, what bothers the most are the people who occupy the street to dump dirty water and those same waters make their way and end up starting in the large mud puddles,” added another resident.
“Here there are about seven houses in the 19 de Julio neighborhood, in the municipality of Rivas, that dump water at all hours, I suggest that they should build a drain or make a ditch so that the water does not travel here, the only thing that causes discomfort to those of us who live near the place where the ponds originate. You have to be more aware,” demanded another affected resident.
