The survey, which interviewed 2,004 people at the beginning of October, also shows that 71% agree that investment in biofuels will generate more jobs in rural areas of the country.

According to the survey, 66% of respondents fuel their cars, most of the time, with gasoline or diesel. Only 29% use ethanol as their main fuel. Among the available options, 77% said that electric cars are the best alternative for the country, followed by ethanol (40%) and Natural Gas (33%).

The survey also shows that 62% of those interviewed believe that measures to promote fuels of the future will bring benefits to the country.

On the 14th, the National Alcohol Program (Proálcool) turned 49 years old. According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, since the implementation of the program, ethanol has allowed Brazil to save energy equivalent to more than 2.5 billion barrels of oil, resulting in savings of around US$205 billion in gasoline imports. over the last five decades.

Corn has established itself as an important ally in the production of ethanol, previously produced exclusively from sugar cane, currently representing almost 20% of the total produced in Brazil.

Currently, the federal government is seeking to consolidate initiatives such as the Future Fuel Law, which came into force last October, with the aim of modernizing and expanding renewable sources, keeping Brazil at the forefront of sustainable development. The law creates national green diesel, sustainable aviation fuel and biomethane programs. The new legislation also increases the mixture of ethanol and biodiesel with gasoline and diesel.

The main objective of the law is to replace fossil fuels in land, sea and air transport with sustainable fuels. According to the federal government, this is the largest decarbonization program in the transport and mobility matrix on the planet.
