Rescue units continue to search for two missing people in the Barú Volcano National Park

The Ministry of the Environment reported that security forces carry out search and rescue work for two Panamanian men who disappeared within the Barú Volcano National Park (PNVB).

This is the first case of missing persons registered so far this year on this site.

In 11 months, more than 7,600 visitors have entered this protected area.

The hikers entered this Friday through the Los Llanos Control Post, in the Paso Ancho district of Tierras Altas, in the direction of the top of the Barú volcano in the PNVB, and since then there has been no contact with them.

Upon entering, one of them confirmed to be a guide at the Checkpoint.

A technician and park ranger from the Ministry of the Environment, volunteer units from the NGO SAR Panama, the Fire Department, the National Police, the Red Cross and the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) participate in the search.
