Republicans step up pressure on the president

Washington. Republicans have stepped up their pressure on US President Joe Biden by publishing their report on his investigation and arguing that they want to impeach him for “abuse of power” and “obstruction of justice”.

The 291-page document was made public after the president announced in July that he would not seek re-election and on the same day that Democrats begin the convention in Chicago where Vice President Kamala Harris will accept her own nomination for the November 5 elections.

The Conservatives formalized the launch of their investigation into Bien about eight months ago, and their investigation has been led by the House Judiciary Committee, the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee.

In line with what has been advanced since then, the document considers that there is sufficient evidence to show that Biden participated in a “conspiracy” to take advantage of his position to enrich his family.

Specifically, the opposition accuses him of having used his influence when he was vice president of the United States in the Barack Obama government (2009-2017) to help his son Hunter and other relatives in alleged irregular business dealings with “enemies” of the country.

In their view, there is also evidence of efforts by the Biden family to conceal this alleged conspiracy. They allege that the Bidens laundered funds through intermediary entities and divided large transactions into smaller ones so that they would go unnoticed.

Republicans consider Biden to have committed abuse of power and obstruction of justice, two charges that they say are “impeachable.” They are the same ones that Democrats used in 2019 against former president and current Republican candidate Donald Trump (2017-2021) to subject him to an impeachment trial that the latter survived.

In total, the committees say they have counted more than $35 million sent to the Biden family, their companies and business partners since 2013. “They sold political influence and their businesses included ‘consulting’ without being lobbyists,” the document says.

The committees found that the evidence uncovered to date already constitutes “impeachable” conduct and said they are submitting their information to the House of Representatives for evaluation and a decision on what to do about it.
