Report shooting in Old Havana

MIAMI, United States. – Cuban Internet users reported a shooting that occurred on Consulado street, between Ánimas and Trocadero streets, in Old Havana, around 4:00 p.m. this Thursday.

According to sources on social networks, several people have been injured. Meanwhile, one or two fatalities would be counted after the incident. CubaNet independently confirmed the fact, but so far it has not been able to specify the number of injured and/or deceased.

“They tell me that today, May 25, there was a shooting in Havana,” posted on Facebook the digital creator Edmundo Dantés Junior. “They called the parents to pick up the children at 4:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they found out that a boy (there are versions that say it was more than one) with a gun and a knife had tried to enter and started a shooting at a block from the school, where he killed two people and injured three,” he explained.

According to Dantés Junior, the events occurred in the vicinity of the Folkloric Dance Center in Old Havana.

“Sources close to them assure that one of those who were killed was the director of the Deep Roots Company, which is next to the Lido hotel, and that a tremendous run-run was armed with the shooting,” wrote the digital creator. “According to what they say, the police arrived and caught those involved,” he added.
