Report on Justice System approved for second discussion

On Wednesday, the report was approved for the second discussion of the Partial Reform Project of the Organic Law of the Justice System, during the ordinary meeting of the Permanent Commission of Internal Policy of the National Assembly.

According to a note of Parliament, deputy Pedro Carreño, who chairs the Permanent Commission on Internal Policy of the National Assembly, emphasized that the proposal seeks to “unify all State institutions to guarantee the right of citizens to access the justice system.”

He explained that this legal instrument will allow the creation of the Special Commission of the Council of Justice, which will be directed by whoever the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, appoints to coordinate all the Public Powers in the area of justice.

After the signing of the agreement, the Permanent Commission for Domestic Policy sent the document to the Board of Directors of the National Assembly for its evaluation.

“If the project is approved, it will be submitted to the consideration of the Plenary Chamber for its second discussion and final sanction,” said deputy Pedro Carreño.

Three Laws: Revolution of the Justice System

It transpired during the meeting of parliamentarians that the Commission is working on three laws necessary for the Judicial Revolution, which aspire to be sanctioned before the end of 2022.

“These are the Law of the Court Inspectorate, the Law of the School of the Judiciary and other organs of the Justice System; and the Code of Ethics of the Venezuelan Judge and Judge”, Carreño specified.

Three Law Reforms

On the other hand, the Permanent Commission of Internal Policy of the National Assembly appointed the deputy Iris Varela responsible for beginning the process of partial reform of the Penal Code, Civil Code and Code of Criminal Procedure.

In this regard, Varela stressed that the Legislative Power must guarantee the rights and duties of the Venezuelan people when they appear before any institution in the judicial area “so updating the rules will help improve the attention and procedure of criminal cases.”

It is estimated that for the next meeting of the Commission, Deputy Varela will present the report for evaluation.
