Report almost 4 thousand affected in Clarines and Onoto by flooding of the Unare River

The governor of Anzoátegui, Luis Marcano, reported that the floods affect almost 4,000 people from Clarines and Onoto. Approximately 600 people are affected in Clarines, Anzoátegui state, after the rise of the Unare River. The most affected sectors in Clarines are Boca de Guaribe, Maparaca, Altos de Clarines, Simón Bolívar, Mini Fincas, Carutico, Los Cerezos, Matadero , Las Lagunitas and Paso Real


In Clarines and Onoto, in Anzoátegui, there are about 4,000 people affected by the flooding of the Unare River, reported Governor Luis Marcano, after surveying the area, this Thursday, October 20.

The official said that of the 7,000 homes established in both towns, “10% have suffered floods, affecting almost 4,000 people, most of whom have decided to stay in residences of family and friends.”

For her part, the director of the Fe y Alegría Clarines school, Edyelin Aguirre, said that approximately 600 people are affected by Clarines. The information was provided in statements to Radio Faith and Joy.

Aguirre pointed out that there are two shelters enabled for the affected people; while the local authorities are sending the communities water and food. The most affected sectors in Clarines are Boca de Guaribe, Maparaca, Altos de Clarines, Simón Bolívar, Mini Fincas, Carutico, los Cerezos, Matadero, Las Lagunitas and Paso Real.

However, the Fe y Alegría school was not affected because it is far from the Unare River. However, in the last two days, classes were suspended.

A few days ago, the mayor of the Bruzual municipality (Clarines), Ingrid Cortez, said that the families lost their belongings to a lesser extent, but, in several of the houses, the walls and the sewage systems collapsed. This municipality is under the supervision of the Civic-Military-Police Command post due to the alert that was generated with the rise of the Unare River.

The mayor of the Simón Rodríguez de Anzoátegui municipality, Ernesto Paraqueima, reported that the supplies collected for those affected in Las Tejerías, in Aragua, were sent to this population.
