Bilateral trade between Colombia and Venezuela added $2.5 million in the first month of the commercial reopening of the border between Norte de Santander and Táchira.

According to the data presented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, As of October 21, 67 cargo trucks have passed through the Simón Bolívar and Francisco de Paula Santander binational bridges.
With the data projected for this Tuesday, October 25, the first month of balance of the reopening shows a load movement of 1,552 tons of cargo.

Among other data reported by the Ministry of Commerce, imports from Venezuela have increased 25% in this period.
“We have exceeded our expectations”, said the Minister of Commerce, Germán Umaña at a press conference.

With this balance of the first month, Umaña ratified the projections of binational trade towards the end of the year between 800 million and 1,000 million dollars, since between January and August the bilateral exchange totaled 450 million dollars, a growth of 113.3%. compared to the same period in 2021.
From Colombia to Venezuela they have exported medical supplies, confectionery, supplies for the footwear industry, parts and pieces and agro-industrial supplies. Steel in coils, chemical products, hot sheets, among others, have arrived from the neighboring country.

Umaña announced that together with his Venezuelan counterparts, he is working on programs to complement production of goods and services, as well as on investment protection and sustainable tourism agreements.
