Rental subsidies announced for those affected by emergency in Cundinamarca

Seven people die in Cachipay and Viotá due to landslides

During this year it has been Cundinamarca one of the departments most affected by the winter wave and it has been during the month of April when the emergency has intensified, due to the overflows and landslides that have affected the inhabitants of several of its areas. That is why during this past weekend the public calamity was decreed due to the emergency and in order to attend to the ravages left by the rainy season.

From the risk management council that was carried out to find solutions for the department, Nicolás García, Governor of Cundinamarca, announced that $10,000 million will be allocated to deal with the emergency, as well as the payment of a rent subsidy for the affected people.

“What happens from today is the payment of the rent by the department and the nation for the affected families who slept last night between the Police headquarters and the communal hall,” the official said in this regard.

So far the municipalities of Arbelaez, Viota and Cachipay They have been the most affected by avalanches and overflows, to the point of having fatalities amounting to seven in the last two mentioned areas.

Search and rescue operations are currently being carried out in Viotá, in order to find the others affected by the avalanche that destroyed five homes and left several members of a family homeless.

According to IDEAMthe rains could extend until the month of June.
