The Residential Rent Variation Index (Ivar) registered deflation (price fall) of 0.02% in September this year. In the previous month, the indicator had a high of 1.76%. The data are from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
Despite the fall in the index in September, the inflation rate accumulated in 12 months rose from 10.41% in August to 11.37% in the following month. Ivar is calculated based on rental prices in four cities: São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte.
São Paulo and Porto Alegre went from inflation in August to deflation in September. In the capital of São Paulo, the rate went from 1.04% to -0.18%. In the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, the Ivar went from 2.63% to -0.37%.
Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte maintained their upward trend, but more moderately than in August. In the capital of Rio de Janeiro, the rate dropped from 1.15% in August to 0.77% in September. In the capital of Minas Gerais, the index fell from 3.10% to 0.26% in the same period.
