The Mayor’s Office of the National District has advanced the works of the “Malecon Boardwalk”, in its fourth stage, which extends from José Núñez de Cáceres avenue to the fronts of the Foreign Ministry, on Huascar Tejeda street and has an approximate cost of 208 million pesos.
Already more than a linear meter has new and wide sidewalks that will include spaces for a bike lane, a large part for walking and benches in the central area. The gray sidewalks were raised and are made of reinforced concrete and materials resistant to the weight and erosion of saltpeter.
It is a project that has an extension of 3.5 kilometers and that includes the construction of three parks: La Yagua, The Heroes and La Española. In addition, it will have areas for children, picnic and contemplation. Also there will be a readjustment of the three existing parking lots to increase the number of vehicles with their appropriate accesses, new benches, lighting and street furniture.
Similarly, 160 poles, 364 lamps with solar panels and LED lights, video cameras will be installed for greater security of visitors. Work began last April and is expected to be completed this year.

The project is to transform the 3.5 kilometers into a large linear park, widening and adapting the sidewalks to make them more accessible to the public. The sidewalks will be divided into one lane to achieve alternative forms of mobility and another for pedestrian use only. In the center, a large line of benches to enjoy the Caribbean Sea.
The project does not contemplate the ramps for fishermen that extend in those intervened kilometers, but the authorities are looking for a solution to the deteriorated structures built by the Ministry of Public Works in the last administration.
