President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, delivered this Saturday the remodeled pier of San Pedro de Macorisrebuilt at a cost of more than RD$ 290 million.
This intervention consists of reconstruction of the coastal coast of pier of San Pedro de Macoris of 1.84 kilometers, creating a linear park with a total intervention area of 60,000 square meters, of which 12,000 meters are sidewalks.
It consists of two large areas of recreationan area of business which houses nine double sales modules, bathrooms, a security booth for Politur and its equipment for the common areas.
Thus it consists of a second square with an area of recreationa sales module and a photographic stand with native folklore figures of the “Guloyas” area, declared by UNESCO as Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
President Luis Abinader highlighted the importance of the construction sitewhich was an old complaint of residents in this municipality in the Eastern region of the country.
He reported that his government has a clear vision of development of San Pedro de Macorisprovince, which, according to him, has great tourist potential.
Minister Collado said that the construction site will mark a before and after in the image of San Pedro de Macoris and will have a direct impact on tourism in the municipality.
“As we promised, here we are, with the remodeled pier of San Pedro de Macorisa demand of its residents for years, for their total enjoyment,” said Collado when leading the inauguration ceremony.
The remodeled construction site has landscaping throughout the pierthe central island and the sea front. A children’s play area, outdoor gym, universal access ramp, lighting, among other facilities, were also installed.
This construction site was carried out by the Executing Committee of Infrastructures in Tourist Zones, (CEIZTUR), with a cost of RD$290,529,675.32,
Investment SPM
Among the works that have been completed in this province since 2021, is the reconstruction Duarte Street road, for an amount of RD$64,048,704.85, as well as the Plaza de Vendedores de la Playita de Guayacanes for an amount of RD$65,493,307.96.
Also the Plaza de los Vendedores de Guayacanes for RD$57,287,269.55 and the pier San Pedro de Macoris for RD$290,529,675.32, for a investment total of completed works of RD$477,358,957.68.
Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of the Juan Dolió Treatment Plant is underway, for an amount of RD$31,333,888.34 and the reconstruction of the square Marcelino Marte (Canito), in Guayacanes for RD$32,599,344.30, totaling RD$63,933,232.64.
