Remittance income increased 2.2% in Querétaro

Querétaro, Qro. In 2024 the entity caught 1,276.7 million dollars of Remittance incomeexperiencing an annual growth of 2.2%, reports Banco de México (Banxico).

With this level of growth, the entity was slightly below the national average that presented an advance of 2.25 percent.

Of the 18 municipalities of Querétaronine registered annual falls in the reception of remittances, the remaining nine presented positive variations.

Querétaro It was the municipality that contributed the most to the total amount, upon receiving remittances for 440.9 million dollars, represented 34.5%; then, San Juan del Río which concentrated 158.7 million dollars, 12.4%; Bonfil Amealco with 115.9 million, 9.1%; Cadereyta de Montes with 115.2 million, 9%; and Jalpan de Serra that captured 84 million dollars, 6.6 percent.

Conversely, the five municipalities that received less remittances are Columbus that concentrated 0.1% of the total; Toliman, 0.7%; San Joaquín, 0.8%; Pinal de Amoles, 1.2%; and Arroyo Seco, 1.2 percent.

Remittances go down in mountain municipalities

Among the most outstanding falls, when comparing the amounts of 2023 and 2024, are the municipalities of the mountain region.

In Landa de Matamoros the fall was -20% in the amount of remittances that attracted in 2024, it was the most pronounced decline; Tolimán (-18.8%), San Joaquín (-13.5%), Pinal de Amoles (-11.8%), Jalpan de Serra (-5.9%), the marquis (-4.2%), Peñamiller (-1.5%), Columbus, (-1.1%) and Corregidora (-0.7 percent).

On the contrary, the growths were accentuated in some metropolitan municipalities, the semi -desert and the south of the state.

In Huimilpan the remittances grew 20.3% in 2024, compared to the previous year, placing itself as the demarcation with greater increase.

Then, with variations of a digit, Cadereyta de Montes (9.7%), Amealco de Bonfil (6.2%), San Juan del Río (3.7%), Arroyo Seco (3.2%), Pedro Escobedo (3%), Querétaro (2.3%), Ezequiel Montes (1.3%) and Tequisquiapan (0.5 percent).

Contribution

Of the 32 entities, Querétaro took place 18 by contributing with 2% of the remittances that the country received in 2024.

In the first three sites they were placed: Michoacán that contributed 8.7%, Guanajuato with 8.7%and Jalisco with 8.5%; In the last positions: Baja California Sur with 0.2%, Campeche with 0.3% and Tabasco with 0.6 percent.

During 2024, the state of Querétaro maintained the same contribution that generated in 2023, 0.2% to total remittance income.

In 2024 the country received 64,745 million dollars in remittances, an annual increase of 2.3%; 99.1% of total income was made through electronic transfers. Only in December 5,228 million dollars added, experiencing an annual contraction of 4.9 percent.
