NEW YORK.- The president of the United Winemakers Association of America (UBA), Radhamés Rodríguez, reminds its members, more than 12,000 in the five counties, of the Executive Order signed at the beginning of the year by the mayor, Eric Adams, so that various agencies stop fining small businesses for anything.
“It is important that our members remember and are aware of any fine by the Department of Buildings, Environment, Sanitation, Firefighters, Health, Consumer and Worker Protection, because said order prohibits them from fining small businesses for simplicity, nor does it hinder to carry out any procedure”, he said.
Previously, not only winemakers, but also owners of other types of businesses were fined for issues as simple as not picking up the leaves in autumn time, which with its strong breezes accumulate them in different places in a matter of minutes.
Rodríguez expresses that he makes the public approach because it is the role of UBA, to protect, inform, remember, defend and guide its members on any measure that benefits or harms it.
For his part, the new commissioner of the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), Kevin D. Kim, states that with this Executive Order, businesses will save millions of dollars and a lot of time.
“These are smart political strategies that will help small businesses recover,” he said.
