This Saturday, some releases of political prisoners continued to be carried out, according to confirmations made by the organization Foro Penal.
Since last January 8, when the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, announced the release of a “significant number” of political prisoners, few releases have occurred. Relatives and human rights organizations hold vigils in front of the different detention centers and demand speed and transparency in the process.
This Saturday the 10th, the Foro Penal organization confirmed the release of:
Antonio Gerardo (Nino) Buzzetta PachecoVenezuelan Italian citizen. He was arrested on September 30, 2024.
Virgilio Laverdeyouth coordinator of VenteVenezuela in the state of Bolívar. He was arrested on August 15, 2024, by Cicpc officials.
Didelis Raquel Corredorassistant to journalist Roland Carreño. He had been imprisoned since July 13, 2023.
Diogenes Omar Ángulo Molina. Arrested on July 26, 2024. He was imprisoned in Yare III.
After the announcement made by Rodríguez, the government of Spain confirmed the release of five Spanish citizens: Andrés Martínez Adasme and José María Basoa Valdovinos, Miguel Moreno Dapena, Ernesto Gorbe Cardona and the Spanish-Venezuelan Rocío San Miguel.
The release of the former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez and the Convergencia politician Biaggio Pilieri.

The organization Justicia, Encuentro y Perdón demanded that the authorities publish a complete list of released people, with names, place of detention and conditions of freedom and that any future announcement be made in a verifiable manner and without generating false expectations.
In the announcement of the releases, Rodríguez did not specify how many people will be “released.” He only assured that it is a “significant number” of Venezuelans and foreigners.
The deputy added that this gesture seeks to “consolidate peace and peaceful coexistence among all, without distinction of political, religious, economic, social.”
Following the information given by the official, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, welcomed the action and assured that due to the collaboration shown by Venezuela, he had decided to suspend a second wave of attacks that he had initially planned.
