Relaunch project for reinsertion and conservation of the Condor of the Andes

In the Sierra de La Culata National Park, Mérida state, the Project for the Reproduction, Reintegration into its Habitat and Conservation of the Condor of the Andes (Vultur gryphus) was relaunched. The information was provided by the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Joshua Lorcain their social networks.

Lorca explained that “this project has stages of development, but this time we are doing it differently, it is done with the People’s Power, with the native communities, and with the support of a scientific team of technicians and private companies.”

The objective is to reintroduce to the Andean ecosystems a genetically stable population of the Condor species that is currently extinct in its natural habitat.

For his part, he geologist Jose Subdiaga He expressed, “we are in the presence of the emblematic bird of the Venezuelan Andes, the Andean condor, the largest and heaviest bird on the planet.”
