Relatives and activists “pilgrimaged” through several prisons and police commands to demand the freedom of all political prisoners, after 51 days on vigil outside different detention centers after the announcement of their releases on January 8.
During the afternoon and evening of Saturday, February 28, family members along with activists from the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners mobilized through the prisons of El Rodeo I, Sebin Helicoide, and the commands of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) in La Yaguara and Boleíta (better known as Zone 7) to demand that the release process be accelerated under the Amnesty Law.

Representatives of the Catholic Church also participated in the activity, “to provide a message of strength to those who have not abandoned their loved ones for a single minute,” express the Committee on social networks.

Likewise, Clippve pointed out that the family members will maintain “their commitment: they will continue in permanent prayer until each of their loved ones regains their freedom.”

After the announcement of “a large number” of releases by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, a series of sporadic releases began under precautionary measures. At least 255 full freedoms granted under the Amnesty Law were added to the process, according to deputy Jorge Arreaza.
This law covers 13 “political events” that occurred between 1999 and January 2026 with an obvious exclusion of military cases. Lawyers, various organizations and family members have called for disorganization in the courts to file appeals and demand amnesty.
Arreaza also reported on Saturday that military courts agreed grant precautionary measures to a group of 31 members of the National Armed Forces detained for political reasons. The Penal Forum confirmed the release of eight soldiers a day earlier, including Lieutenant Jesús Molina Sifontes and Captain Rocío Fernández, belonging to the Wayúu ethnic group.
