Relatives of Tamara Dávila show her physical deterioration after a year in El Chipote

A year and 29 days have passed since the leader of the Blue and White National Unity (UNAB), Tamara Dávila, was converted into a political prisoner of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo. Her relatives published this Monday, July 11, a spoken portrait that shows the physical deterioration suffered by the area of conscience, due to the inhumane conditions that prevail in the prison. The Chipote.

Dávila has only been seen by five relatives during eight visits that have been allowed, so the portrait – which was produced by the Be Human campaign – is an approximation of her current state, after losing 40 pounds and not receiving the birth of the sun.

“She says that she remains hungry and that many times they don’t give her the nutritional drinks that our family brings her. We are distressed and alarmed, and that is why we share with the world what Tamara looks like after a year of torture in El Chipote“, Dávila’s relatives pointed out.

Ana Lucía Álvarez, sister of the political prisoner, described her as “a deeply strong and spiritual person” and highlighted that “during this year of isolation she has trained her mind to stay strong and focused. She prays, sings, dances, meditates and writes stories in her head for her daughter, since they do not allow her access to paper or pencil. It is inhumane that they have made it completely impossible for him to communicate with her daughter, not allowing visits, calls, letters, photos, or drawings,” she commented.

Álvarez also expressed that “beyond the pain” that his sister is going through, she “is still strong and dignified.” During the visits she has stated: “they are not going to break me, I am going to come out of here (prison) more intelligent, more committed and stronger”.

Dávila’s family demands her immediate release, without conditions and with guarantees for her and all political prisoners of the regime. While that happens, they demand that all her rights be respected.
