Relatives of political prisoners warn of a possible outbreak of COVID-19 in “El Chipote”

During the most recent visit to the political prisoners of “El Nuevo Chipote”, the relatives of the hostages of the Nicaraguan regime were able to verify that the health situation of the detainees continues to worsen for all with a possible outbreak of coronavirus in the prison and the continuation of torture.

Relatives of Irving Larios denounced in an interview with the program This week that the prisoner of conscience could have been infected with COVID-19 during the reading of his sentence, on March 8, but the authorities of the “El Chipote” prison never informed them about that situation. It was not until March 19 that they found out about the state of health of the economist and sociologist.

After his sentence was read, Larios presented all the symptoms of the disease and was isolated from the other hostages. His relative affirms that he was being treated with ivermectin and colchicine, two drugs used by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to treat the coronavirus. However, the doctor who treated him did not tell him what illness he had.

“To this day, he (Larios) is fine, but he says that those six days were horrible, there were even two days when he couldn’t even eat because he had so much burning in his throat that he couldn’t swallow, he became saturated ( of oxygen) of 87”, denounced the citizen in This Week.

The opponent accused of violating Law 1055, known as the “Sovereignty Law”, continues to lose weight. “Right now he weighs 133 pounds, when his weight was normally around 165,” his relative commented. In addition, he suffers from high blood pressure and endures cold at night, because the prison authorities do not allow him to have any blankets.

Similar to the case of Larios, it happened with the political prisoner Pedro Vásquez, who during the visit made by his partner, Norma Vega, told him that he had been hospitalized (without specifying the place) for three days. However, the prison authorities never told his family.

“He told me that he has been in serious condition, that they give him medications like for the flu, but that was not the flu,” Vega said about the state of health of the former driver of Cristiana Chamorro, who is accused of the crimes of abusive management, ideological falsehood, misappropriation and improper retention and money laundering. He does not rule out the possibility that it is an outbreak due to the omicron variant.

He added that during the trial, held from March 3 to 11, he saw Vásquez “in a fairly deteriorated state of health, with a purple arm, dizziness, high blood pressure, pain in his knees,” and on one occasion he saw him faint while being taken to the hospital. bathroom, “if the two policemen he was taking to the shore hadn’t grabbed him, he would have fallen to the floor.”

Vega said that the political prisoner has lost a lot of weight, has colon problems and suffers from high blood pressure. «What I ask is that they send him home to jail because only then will I be able to take care of him, it scares me, it scares me that something more serious is going to happen to him, more so now that I realized that he has bowel problems. And I demand his freedom because he is innocent,” he said.

The former president of the Superior Council of Private Enterprise (Cosep), José Adán Aguerri, also suffers from serious health problems. During this weekend’s visit, his relatives verified that he experiences partial loss of sight in his left eye, otitis and permanent migraines.

On the other hand, the state of health of the sports writer, Miguel Mendoza, is also delicate. His wife, Margin Pozo, reported that during her visit she found that she is experiencing heart pain and symptoms of uric acid that make it impossible for her to walk.

“He (Mendoza) has asked for a pillow to enter because he has a lot of pain in his neck and back, but this has been denied. He has also presented small pains in the heart and that to us, as a family, we are very concerned because, with this heat and being locked up, it could give him something worse, “Margin Pozo denounced to the media.

Mendoza is currently weighing 150 pounds and “when he arrived at El Chipote he weighed 183,” Pozo said. The political prisoner also “has presented symptoms of uric acid and it is concentrated in his ankles. He told me that he couldn’t walk about a month ago because his foot hurt a lot », he concluded.
