Relatives of Political Prisoners Detained in Havana

Havana Cuba. – At least three parents of political prisoners of the July 11 (J11), 2021 They were arrested this Wednesday in Havana when they were preparing to carry out a peaceful protest for their children, activists and relatives denounced.

So far, the arrest of Yanaisy Curbelo and Maylin Fajardo has been confirmed, he assured CubaNet Daniela Rojo, activist and former coordinator of the Archipiélago group. Curbelo is the mother of Brandon David Becerra Curbelo, an 18-year-old sentenced to 13 years in prison; and Fajardo is the mother of 17-year-old Lázaro Noel Urgellés Fajardo, sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Maité Suárez, a Cuban activist living in Spain, denounced also the arrest of Ángel Rolando Castillo, father of Rowland Castillo, a young man sentenced to 18 years in prison.

“The events occurred when they were going to the church to carry out a march in favor of the freedom of their children (…). They are detained in the 11th. San Miguel Police Unit”, in Havana, he claimed the also activist Tamara Pérez Díaz.

Bárbara Farrat, mother of Jonathan Torres, also imprisoned after 11J, denounced that there is a police operation outside his home.

For her part, Migdalia Padrón, mother of Brusnelvis Adrián Cabrera, a 20-year-old man sentenced to 15 years in prison, was summoned today by State security and questioned about the call for the march.
