The coordinator of the NGO Familia SOS Libertad, Franklin Boiler, denounced the cruel and degrading treatment to which political prisoners are subjected during their transfers to trials in the circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas.
According to the complaints collected by the NGO, once they reach the courts “they are admitted to cells that are in subhuman conditions, they are not allowed to bring in food and, if they allow it, they have to give the custodians money or other food”.
In the cells they are not allowed to go to the bathroom for the whole day and, in some cases, they are not allowed to eat or drink water. “Finally, between 4:00 and 6:00 pm, they are brought up to the courts to start the trials that last overnight, which prevents the public from entering, so the trials are private.”
