Relatives of political prisoners complete 48 hours on hunger strike in Zone 7

The relatives of political prisoners held at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) in Boleíta, known as Zone 7, This Monday they completed 48 hours of hunger strike demanding immediate release and full of all those detained for political reasons.

The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners (ClippVe) recalled on social networks that this action is in addition to the hunger strike started by political prisoners last Friday to demand their immediate freedom.

Despite the determination of many of these women on hunger strike, several have suffered health problems since this Sunday.

The EFE news agency reported that one of them fainted twice and decompensated every time she tried to get up, while another reported having a headache and problems with blood pressure.

At night, the latter received intravenous fluids on the mat on which she was lying, and several had their blood pressure measured.

The opposition party Primero Justicia blamed the government of interim president Delcy Rodríguez for “any damage suffered by families.”

444 releases of political prisoners

The NGO Penal Forum has verified 444 releases of political prisoners since just over a month ago, when the government in charge announced a release process.

Alfredo Romero, president of the organization, reported in X that This figure counts the releases from last January 8 to this February 15 at 9:30 p.m. local time (1:00 GMT on the 16th).

Foro Penal does not consider releases in cases in which, after leaving a detention center, the person remains deprived of liberty under house arrest.

A week ago, the opposition leader Juan Pablo Guanipa and the legal advisor of the largest opposition coalition, Perkins Rocha, were released from prison along with another group of political activists.

However, Rocha remains under house arrest, like Guanipa, who was imprisoned again the same day he was released from prison, accused by the Prosecutor’s Office of failing to comply with his precautionary measures.
