Relatives of Micaela Rascovsky ask that her death be investigated as a femicide

Micaela Rascovsky was a medical student.

Relatives of Micaela Rascovsky, together with social and human rights leaders, called for a mobilization at 7:00 p.m. in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Ortúzar to request that the death of the young woman be investigated as a femicide, informed those who organized the march.

The investigation was initially classified as homicide, but after an appeal made by the defendant, it was changed to “abandonment of a person aggravated by injuries and by the relationship.”

The young woman’s family points out that the evidence accumulated in the investigation is “compelling” and proves that Micaela was “murdered by her partner Guido Pascuccio”, who has been detained since her statement.

In demand for justice, family, friends and human rights organizations will mobilize at 2042 Artigas Streetin the Villa Ortúzar neighborhood, where he lived with his partner Rascovsky, a 26-year-old medical student, who died in April 2021.

The case has been in the 28th Prosecutor’s Office for a year and a half, in charge of Patricio Lugones.

The beginning: gender violence

The young woman died the same night that she told her family that she had been attacked by her partner who, according to her parents, had suffered “for months”.

That night, Pascuccio was the one who called 911 and, when the police arrived, said that his partner “had committed suicide and had taken alcohol and cocaine”, however the autopsy found no traces of those substances in the young woman’s body.

In the expert tests carried out, it was verified that “her wrists and arms showed that she was tied up and on her body there were marks of at least 13 blows.”

The parents presented before the Justice “all the evidence on which they supported their suspicions” but they were attended “almost two months later and much of this evidence was lost,” they said.

Despite this, the Prosecutor’s Office carried out searches and took a statement from Pascuccio that due to “serious contradictions and inconsistencies” in his testimony, he was arrested.

However, the young woman’s family presumes that the defendant “could be released in the next few hours by judicial decision” and they demand justice for Micaela.
