The relatives of the Zulian deputy and LUZ professor Eduardo Labrador presented, with legal assistance from the Venezuelan Penal Forum, a constitutional appeal for habeas corpus that will be processed by the First Control Court of the Capital Region, whose head is Judge Carlos Martínez, due to “disappearance.” forced.”
Manuel Labrador, son of the detained professor, reported that, assisted by lawyers, he urgently presented a claim for constitutional protection in the form of habeas corpus in favor of his father, “since a forced disappearance has occurred that violates their right to freedom and with clear violation of the guarantees of due process established in our national constitution,” reads a press release released this Friday, October 25.

The relative said that the Zulian professor has been missing for seven days since a police commission detained him. Likewise, he indicated that they have made all efforts from the University of Zulia through its rector and the Legislative Council of the State of Zulia to find out his whereabouts, but they have been unsuccessful.
“We hope that this court orders his immediate release and we can overcome this suffering, state of anguish and anxiety of the entire family not knowing anything about dad,” said his son Manuel Labrador.
For his part, lawyer Larry Molero reported that the legal appeal in favor of the freedom of Eduardo Labrador is based on the provisions of article 27 of the Constitution. “Constitutional 27 establishes that every person has the right to be protected by the courts if their guarantees and human rights are violated.”
The specialist also pointed out that Judge Carlos Martínez must give them an immediate response to the legal situation against the professor from La Universidad del Zulia. “It is clear that due process was totally violated; he must regain his freedom immediately,” he stated.
