The Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) came out in defense of Arnold Alanes, who manages the parallel coca market. The defended leader summoned the “General Staff of Yungas” to take measures in defense of his supply center. The residents of the areas of Villa Fátima and El Carmen came out last night with white flags asking for the fighting to stop.

“In the next few hours, the Yungas General Staff we are going to give a press conference and there we will broadcast the official news of the determinations”, assured Alanes in contact with radio Erbol.
Alanes explained that the “General Staff of the Yungas” is made up of the Departmental Association of Coca Producers (Adepcoca), the Council of Peasant Federations of Yungas (Cofecay) and the National Confederation of Producers with Retail Folders (Conalprodc).

The leader added that “every action provokes a reaction” and did not rule out the determination of a massive call to show the bases that the Villa El Carmen market requires.

Alanes asserted that after the events of 2019, his sector was discriminated against in the commercialization of the Villa Fátima market and suffered atrocities in the Yungas region.
”There must be a peaceful solution to this conflict and I express my willingness to dialogue, but I regret the position of Freddy Machicado, who ignored the invitations to meet. I expect a reflection from Freddy (Machicado) to be able to resolve this conflict and not be closed in asking for the closure of the Villa El Carmen market, “said Alanes.

Governmentthrough the Vice Ministry of Internal Affairs and Police, Ismael Téllez, announced that will prosecute the president of Adepcoca, Freddy Machicado, for allegedly inciting violence in the conflict over the parallel market. In addition, the authority said that an investigation will also be opened for the use of dynamite in the demonstration.

“Obviously yes, everything that is legal is going to be assumed to make a process, because he (Freddy Machicado) has incited violence. He (was) commanding the shock groups, you have seen how they make indiscriminate use of dynamite. The government will never get tired of calling for dialogue,” Téllez said.

Alanes also announced that he will file a lawsuit against those mobilized for damages to the market installed in Villa El Carmen. The leader related to the MAS said that he suffers threats with the burning of his homesone in Yungas and another in the city of La Paz.

We are going to file a formal complaint for attack on private property and attempted murder, that is what this very violent group is doing,” Alanes remarked.

Last night, the residents of Villa El Carmen came out of their homes with white flags calling for an end to the fighting. The Police decided to leave the conflict by superior orders.
The Machicado sector announced that it will continue with the mobilizations until the parallel market managed by the Alanes side is closed.
