“The president must intervene to remove totalitarianism in public institutions,” he said. RodriguezPresident of the Human Rights Commission.
He considered that the first measure in the ongoing police reform should be to change the logo of the National Police, because “they have two revolvers.”
“That is where the reform has to start,” the legislator insisted.
Lack of training
Carlos Sánchez, president of the Interior and Police Commission, defined as an “unacceptable outrage” the aggression against the ombudsman and other officials of that agency. He said that these attacks occur frequently in the national territory against defenseless citizens and that, on this occasion, he had notoriety because he is a high-ranking public official.
“The Police lives permanently exceeding, entering fiscal property without an order, without a prosecutor,” deputy Sánchez complained.
He considered that the situation is the product of the low training of the personnel that make up the National Police.
In this sense, he expressed that “a true police reform is needed in the country.”
“It’s not just talking about salaries. It is a matter of training the police to become more technical, to train them well so that they know how to treat citizens”.
“The salary that can be given to a police officer does not matter if he does not know how to do his job,” Sánchez said.
