Affirms the proposal to modernize the Labor Code includes severe sanctions for those who fail to comply with the 80/20 regulations
The Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel De Campsreiterated that the labor reform deposited in the Senate will protect the workforce and benefit all sectors.
Regarding compliance with labor regulations of the 80/20 of article 135 of the Labor Codethe official said that the modernization of the law includes more severe sanctions for those who fail to comply with it.
He argued that this change is a step towards a more fair and balanced labor system that will benefit both employers and workers.
He added that the 80/20 provision responds to a need to protect jobs and ensured that the majority remain in the hands of Dominicans, which in turn will strengthen the local economy.
“The reform could contribute to reducing dependence on foreign labor in certain labor sectors, promoting more opportunities for Dominicans and increasing domestic purchasing power.”, expressed De Camps García.
The official declared that it is necessary to discourage the use of labor practices that harm national workers.
“This tightening of sanctions reflects the commitment of President Abinader’s government to ensuring that regulations are respected and that they are no longer a dead letter,” he said.
