As part of the operation, personnel from the capital’s government will also be located at the 100 most conflictive intersections that are close to educational centers in the 16 mayor’s offices.
Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Citizen Security, indicated that 7,078 police officers will be deployed for the return to classes, in addition to the presence of 300 National Guard elements, 1,903 vehicles and two helicopters to protect a total of 4,527 public education campuses, plus stations of the Metro, Metrobús, Light Rail and safe trails.
Luis Humberto Fernández, head of the Federal Education Authority in Mexico City, called for families to send their children to school.
“All the basic education schools in Mexico City are ready, they are prepared to safely and harmoniously receive all our girls and boys.
“The call is for all mothers and fathers to have the confidence to take their children to school and for those who have interrupted their studies to approach the principal of their school in order to help them,” he said.
