Registration is now open for schools and colleges in the country, official and private, to register their teams that will participate in the regional robotics Olympics.
This was announced by the National Foundation for the Development of STEAM (FUNDESTEAM) in coordination with the Ministry of Education and the Office of the First Lady of the Republic.
Registration is open until May 31, by entering the wropanama.org page and teams between the ages of 8 and 19 may register in the eight categories of the Olympics that are Primary, Junior and Senior Robotic Missions; Elementary, Junior and Senior Future Innovators; Future Engineers and Robotic Sports.
The representatives of the foundation warn that between official and private schools, the celebration of 20 regional Olympics is expected throughout the country, where student teams will have the opportunity to participate in three regional ones to obtain the highest score that allows them to qualify for the competition. national robotics that will be at the end of next August.
“Panama is the only country that for the second consecutive year celebrates these robotics regionals, last year there were 15 and this year we could exceed 20 regionals, being a great precedent for our country and the region in these robotics Olympics, on the way to the Olympiad. He explained that there is already an agenda for all the regional ones, both in official and private educational centers, noting that the first one will be held at Colegio La Salle, in Margarita de Colón, on June 1st.
It was explained that there are quotas for 100 teams in each educational region, with a maximum of 3 students per team and their respective coach or teacher; for the national, which will take place at the end of August at the ITSE facilities, the participation of 200 teams with more than 800 participants between students and coaches is expected; Of which, it is expected that the two winning teams of the 8 categories, reaching 16 teams, are the ones that will represent Panama in the World Olympiad to be held from November 7 to 9 at the Amador Convention Center.

The Regional Olympics will be from the 1st. from June to August 11, covering educational regions such as: Colón, San Miguelito, Panamá Norte, Panamá Este, Darién, Comarcas Emberá Wounaan, Herrera, Los Santos, Veraguas, Coclé, Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, Comarca Ngobe Buglé, Panamá Oeste , Central Panama and Guna Yala Region.
