The registration period for the Direct Treasury Financial Education Olympiad (Olitef) ends next Monday (9). The objective is to promote financial education among Brazilian students from the 6th to 9th grade of elementary school and the 1st year of high school.
The initiative is from the National Treasury, in partnership with B3 (Bolsa do Brasil) and with support from the Ministry of Education and the Central Bank. In its first edition, the competition already stands out as the largest financial education Olympiad in Brazil, with almost 300 thousand students registered, representing 5 thousand schools distributed in more than 2 thousand cities in the 27 states of the country, showing a reach of approximately 40% in all cities in Brazil. Of the registered institutions, 88.8% are public and 11.2% private.
The inscriptions must be done on the website.
The tests will be administered in person at schools from September 17 to 21. To prepare, a free platform will be offered that trains teachers with specialized teaching resources, while also preparing students to manage their resources (income and expenses), save their own money and that of their family effectively, and understand the different investment alternatives.
In addition, Olitef – Tesouros do Amanhã, will offer a prize plan for public schools. Two schools per state will be able to compete for a prize of R$100,000 in kits for investment in improvements to the school environment, and there will be a draw for the principal and four teachers from the selected schools to receive a prize of R$8,000 in Treasury Direct bonds each.
In all, the competition will draw R$ 7.5 million in prizes.
