Registration for the Bachelor's Degrees begins on February 17th

Students of face-to-face undergraduate courses that train teachers for basic education (childhood, elementary and secondary education) interested in one of the 12 thousand scholarships that the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) will grant through the federal program Mais Professores para o Brasil will be able to register from February 17th, at Freire Platform.Registration for the Bachelor's Degrees begins on February 17th

Those who can apply for the Attractiveness and Training Scholarship for Teaching students who obtained an average grade equal to or greater than 650 points in the National High School Exam (Enem) and who entered an in-person undergraduate course from the second semester of 2025, through the Unified Selection System (Sisu), the University for All Program (Prouni) or the selection process of the Student Financing Fund (Fies).

The Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas scholarships guarantee the awarded students a monthly financial aid of R$1,050, of which R$700 can be withdrawn at any time, while the remaining R$350 will be used to form savings, limited to 48 installments (R$16,800 in current values, without correction), which can only be transferred after the beneficiary starts teaching in the public school system.

To preserve the scholarship, selected students must not only remain enrolled, but will also have to have “satisfactory academic performance”, according to the course rules. They will also have to fill out questionnaires and participate in assessments and other initiatives promoted by Capes and its educational institutions, in addition to fulfilling the other requirements of the program.

More information about how to participate in Pe-de-Meia Licenciaturas can be found at Notice no. 2/2026which Capes published in Official Gazette of the Union this Friday (16).

According to the Ministry of Education, the Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas program seeks to attract young people who perform well on the Enem to face-to-face teacher training courses, promoting the choice of teaching as a profession in order to expand teacher training throughout the country, avoiding an educational blackout. Currently, only 3% of 15-year-old students say they want to be teachers, and the dropout rate varies between 53% in pedagogy courses and 73% in degrees in areas such as physics.

Pé-de-Meia is part of Mais Professores para o Brasil, which also includes Bolsa Mais Professores, Training Portal, Prova Nacional Docente and other valorization actions that, according to the ministry, can benefit up to 2.3 million teachers across the country.
