Regional Water Quality Laboratory and sports facilities will be delivered

The new Regional Water Quality Laboratory in the province of Veraguas and the Justino “Gato Brujo” Salinas stadiums, in La Chorrera and Juan Demóstenes Arosemena, in the capital, are the works that are close to being delivered, as established during the session of the Office for Monitoring Budget Execution and Commitments.

In this session, headed by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, announced that the new Regional Laboratory for Water Quality is ready for its inauguration at the end of next month. The work will allow the pertinent tests to be carried out, in addition to various physical, chemical, biological and microbiological analyzes of the water with the aim of making it suitable for human consumption.

Sucre highlighted the recent inspection carried out by his team in the construction of the new Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colón, which registers progress of 43.25%. He announced that the National Government could partially receive the facilities of this hospital in 2024.

Pandeportes, through its deputy director, Larissa Díaz, announced the upcoming inaugurations, next August, of the Justino “Gato Brujo” Salinas stadiums, in La Chorrera, and the Juan Demóstenes Arosemena stadium, in Panama City. Both facilities are for playing baseball.

Regarding the Roberto Mariano Bula stadium in Colón, he indicated that they began to install the prefabricated slabs for the stands and progress is being made in the construction of parking lots and access roads.

He detailed the progress in the selection of contractors for the facilities in the Armando Dely Valdés and Jaime Velez stadiums, as well as in Barrio Norte in the city of Colón.

The Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Rogelio Paredes, pointed out the executions in the new stage of the Altos de Lagos project, whose delivery date would be in January 2024. He mentioned the advances in the Nuevo Cartí urbanization project in the Guna Yala Region and in the Paso Ancho project in Tierras Altas in Chiriquí.

While the Minister of Government, Roger Tejada, listed the executions in 14 priority projects such as the House of Congress, the modular classrooms, promotions in the Fire Department, improvement of security and perimeter fencing in the La Joya prison complex, the new Chitré prison, fence and improvements in the public prison of Colón, among others.

Rafael Sabonge, head of Public Works, indicated the progress in the 115 priority projects of the institution such as rehabilitation and construction of highways and roads in the country’s road network, as well as the rehabilitation of water pumps in the city of Colón.

The director of the National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (Idaan), Juan Antonio Ducruet gave a report on the levels of the main lakes and reservoirs that supply water to the population.
