For a millionaire sum, the Regional Government of La Araucanía announced a reparation fund for the victims of the rural violence that shakes the area.
“Today I signed a message to allocate $6.526 million to go in support of those workers, small and medium farmers, merchants, entrepreneurs who have been victims of terrorism in our region,” said Governor Luciano Rivas, during his first public account in charge of the body in charge of the superior administration of La Araucanía.
“Our team drafted a bill and I have personally delivered it to (former) President Piñera at the time, to President Boric, to different ministers and parliamentarians, but as long as the will of the Executive and Parliament does not exist, we have to work with existing instruments”, added Rivas, from the Aula Magna of the Universidad de la Frontera.
The head of the regional government maintained that “with this injection of resources we will be able to benefit 272 victims who have been waiting for state support for years and we will reduce the waiting list to zero.” And he added: “When there is will and, above all, there is empathy, things can be achieved, even if they say that security is not our function or legal mandate (…) The victims cannot wait”; Rivas specified.
Those who want to access the available funds will have to be the victim of a crime of these characteristics, provided for in article 108 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The objective will be to contribute to the replacement of the economic activities of companies that have seen their productive or commercial activities affected, interrupted or damaged in the Araucanía Region.
The contribution will materialize through the delivery of a subsidy corresponding to non-reimbursable financial resources, which finance the implementation of a Business Plan whose objective is to restore the productive or commercial activities of those affected.
