Regional exports exceed pre-pandemic levels by growing 30% in 2021

Regional dispatches, without considering Lima and Callao, totaled US$39,106 million last year, registering an increase of 29.9% compared to 2020 (US$30,104 million), and an increase of 31% compared to 2019 (US$29,954 million). ), indicated the (ADEX).

According to the ADEX Data Trade Commercial Intelligence System, only four regions closed in the red: Huánuco (-39%), Pasco (-20%), Cajamarca (-4%) and Junín (-2%); while the remaining 19 presented positive variations.

In order to promote the export culture and train the members of the different production chains, the union indicated that it held virtual forums ‘Exporting is growing’ in regions such as Tacna, Huancavelica and Pasco, with the participation of several directors, including the Vice President of the Agribusiness, Food and Beverage Committee, Amanda Gallegos; the president of the Coffee and Cocoa Committee, José Mejía; and the director of ADEX, Arón Prado.

Ica

Ica with US$ 5,568 million led the ranking of the regions with the largest dispatches (55% increase). Its three main items –iron, tin and copper and its concentrates– accounted for 59%, followed by grapes, fresh asparagus, avocados, iron bars and blueberries, among others.

The market that demanded more Ica supply was China (US$ 2,199 million) with a variation of 66.3%. In second place was the US with US$ 1,253 million, an increase of 30.8%.

Arequipa

Arequipa (US$ 5,461 million) registered an increase of 45%. Copper and its concentrates, gold, molybdenum, cathodes and sections of copper cathodes represented 88.9% of total shipments.

China led the ranking of its destinations with just over US$2,325 million, experiencing growth of 56.5% and concentrating 42.5%. Japan (US$ 709 million), the US (US$ 708 million) and others also stood out.

Ancash

The third region was Áncash (US$ 4,666 million) with an evolution of 20% and a representation of 11.9% of the total. Its leading products were copper, zinc, fishmeal and fish fats and oils, which accounted for 88.7%.

China (US$ 3,152 million) concentrated 67.5% of these shipments, followed by Germany (US$ 227 million). Japan, USA and Belgium completed the top five.

Freedom

It was followed by La Libertad (US$ 3,837 million) presenting a growth of 19.6%. Gold was its emblematic product, concentrating 40.1%, followed far behind by blueberries, avocados, fishmeal, preparations used for animal feed, among others. Canada, the US and Switzerland were his top three destinations.
