In her speech on January 18, the Vice President of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, reported the first meeting of the year that her administration held with almost 300 NGOs that it still allows to operate.
“These NGOs work in our country in a responsible, respectful and supportive manner, contributing to the good life of families and communities,” said the wife of the dictator Daniel Ortega.

He added that the members of his government cabinet have participated in this meeting, “exposing the plans for the year and it has been inaugurated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, comrade Denis Moncada Colindres.”
“There was an exchange with them, we have learned about their plans and we have addressed their concerns,” added the spokesperson for the Nicaraguan dictatorship, which since 2018 has outlawed more than three thousand non-governmental organizations.
It is unknown if with this announcement, the Ortega regime will put an end to its attack against NGOs. To “annihilate” them, it has taken refuge in repressive laws, invented in 2020.
In its wake, the dictatorial couple has outlawed universities, human rights organizations, humanitarian and religious institutions, among others, most of which supported the most vulnerable sectors of the country.
“Honour” to Dario
Within the framework of the birth anniversary of the Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío, the vice dictator took the opportunity to recall that her regime “advances” and that in Nicaragua “never again with hatred.”
«All honoring the prince, the king; to our infinite universal poet. All honoring the love that is all science, the love that can do everything, the love that heals everything, the love that conquers everything,” said the first lady through her propaganda media.
He added that his dictatorship is full “of national pride” and that he is capable of “going forward, honoring the fathers of the country, honoring our heroes, honoring our martyrs and honoring our glories.”
“Rubén who sang and continues to sing from eternity all our victories, illuminated by the sun that does not decline and that illuminates us here,” said the deputy dictator, who took the opportunity to report on a series of propaganda activities, using the figure of the “Prince of Castilian letters.

He also indicated that “in honor and glory” to Rubén Darío, the new school year 2023 will begin on Monday, January 23, where all the educational centers in the country will be interconnected, from the Rigoberto López Pérez Institute, in Managua.
This afternoon, Ortega and Murillo will hold an event to —according to the deputy president— honor Darío. “All families will walk paying tribute to our prince (…),” she concluded.
