The Government of Nicaragua decided to keep fuel prices unchanged for a week, with the aim that they do not trigger the costs of merchandise at the internal level, reported this Saturday, December 3, the Nicaraguan Energy Institute (INE).
“For the next week that goes from December 4 to 10, 2022, according to the international prices of petroleum derivatives, the required adjustments will not be applied, keeping the local prices of gasoline and diesel fuels without variation, for benefit of Nicaraguan families,” the regulatory body said in a statement.
With this decision, the cost of superior gasoline, used in light vehicles, will remain at 5.13 dollars a gallon, and that of regular gasoline, applied in old cars and SUVs, will continue at 5 dollars; while diesel, used in cargo and collective transportation, will be held at $4.52 per gallon (3.78 liters).
The authorities mentioned that in the case of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), used in kitchens, prices, which vary depending on the size of the tanks and the area of the country where they are sold, will also remain unchanged during the same period.
The prices of fuels for transportation and food preparation have remained frozen in Nicaragua since the beginning of last April.

According to the Executive, each week the State of Nicaragua allocates between 4 and 6 million dollars to assume 100% of the rises in international oil prices.
Nicaragua has a fund of 200 million dollars as part of a credit line of up to 800 million dollars, arranged by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), to finance a regional support program in the face of the global rise in prices of the fuels. EFE
