A report from the state media Granma points out that the issue came up at a meeting of the aforementioned Council held on October 25. In it, the process was announced regarding the alleged perpetrators that the Castro regime accuses of “creating panic in a population also affected psychologically after the passage” of the cyclone.

Yoel Pérez García, president of the Defense Council in the easternmost territory of Cuba, would have denied the “fake news.”

Likewise, the directive classified as normal the recent rainfall recorded upstream in the receiving source of the aforementioned reservoir, built in 1991, with the capacity to store 17.5 million cubic meters of water, a volume it currently stores.

Marzo Manuel also said that the Los Asientos dam is currently pouring 21.7 cubic meters per second, which, like the downpours that have fed it in recent hours, “are normal and do not imply any danger of flooding.”

The cost of Castro’s apathy

Hurricane Oscar hit the eastern part of Cuba on October 20. Although the meteorological event barely reached category one on the Saffir-Simpson scale, it was one of the most devastating in recent years.
