The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo expelled Fray Damián Muratori from Nicaragu, according to a press release from the Ministry of the Interior (Migob). He religious belongs to the Franciscan order and is the vice postulant of the cause of beatification of the servant of God, Father Odorico D’Andrea, and rector of the Franciscan Sanctuary El Tepeyac, in San Rafael del Norte, Jinotega.
According to the dictatorship, Muratorio is wanted in Italy for the alleged “crime of sexual violence”, and was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, in the city of Perugia, Italy, in November 2019.
“Today, Tuesday, February 14, 2023, INTERPOL Italy, has requested from the Government of Nicaragua, the flight itinerary of the priest or friar Cosimo Damiano Muratori,” the statement details.
