Regime clears the way for Orlando Gómez with dismissal of his ambassador to Venezuela

Just one day after the Nicaraguan regime appointed Orlando José Gómez Zamora as Minister Counselor with consular functions at the Venezuelan Embassy, ​​the Nicaraguan dictatorship made official through La Gaceta the dismissal of María Isabel Martínez Chavarría, who held the post as ambassador to the administration of Nicolás Maduro for more than two months.

Through the presidential agreement number 121-2022 published in La Gaceta, the regime resolves to “annul the appointment of María Isabel Martínez Chavarría in the position of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua before the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela” .

It is unknown who will occupy the representation of Nicaragua before Venezuela. Martínez previously served as general director of the Nicaraguan Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), between 2008 and 2013.

The former ambassador has a degree in economics from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua), and a master’s degree in public economics and development from the University of Barcelona, ​​Spain.

Martínez was an official of the regime in the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Agrarian Reform from 1980 to 1989. She began as a planner analyst, then became administrative assistant, then was an analyst in work organization techniques and wages, and later served as head of the economic area. of basic grains.

For his part, Orlando José Gómez Zamora has been characterized as a defender of Daniel Ortega, which has earned him various diplomatic posts in recent years.

His appointment was made by Ortega Foreign Minister Denis Moncada, through ministerial agreement no. 33-2022 published in the official gazette of Nicaragua. On May 20, Gómez Zamora had been removed from his position as Nicaraguan ambassador to Venezuela two months ago to become Ortega’s representative in his ally China, where he was also removed.

The Ortega diplomat served as Nicaraguan ambassador to Uruguay, from July 2017 to October 2018, and was later transferred as ambassador to the Russian Federation, a position that lasted less than a month.
