After approving a decree that outlaws the Association of Nicaraguan Singer-Songwriters and the Association of Orthodontists of Nicaragua (Aonic), the legislators —with a Sandinista majority— issued a second decree that was not on the parliament’s agenda and that outlaws 14 educational organizations.
Among the organizations banned this morning are: the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (Upoli), the Catholic Agricultural University of the Tropics (Ucatse), the Association for Humanitarian Studies (Uneh), the Popular Association of Nicaragua (Uponic) and the Paulo Freire University Association (UPF). ).
The Association of the Agricultural Institute of the Diocese of Estelí, the Association of Parochial Schools of the Diocese of Estelí, the Diocesan Cáritas of Estelí, the Father Fabretto Family, the Association of the Justice Commission of the Diocese of Estelí, the Association of the Catholic Cultural Center of the North were also cancelled. of the Diocese of Estelí, the Michelangelo Foundation, the Association for the Development of Estelí and the Association for the Promotion of the Creation of Graduate Entrepreneurs.
The cancellation of the organizations was requested by the head of the Department of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Civil Associations of the Ministry of the Interior (Migob), Franya Urey Blandón, who points out that they are “not very transparent in the administration of funds, The execution of the same is unknown and if it was in accordance with its objectives and purposes for which the National Assembly will grant them legal personality.
