MIAMI, United States. — Ecotourism is one of the fronts that the Cuban regime will promote to attract more visitors to the Island. This was stated by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, during the inauguration of the XIII International Nature Tourism Event (Turnat 2022), which from this Tuesday is celebrated in Havana.
In statements collected by the Cuban News Agency (ACN)Marrero indicated that Cuba is not only a sun and beach tourist destination, but also has many other attractions that must be exploited to guarantee an increase in the volume of visitors.
For his part, the Cuban regime’s tourism minister, Juan Carlos García Granda, affirmed that the Island can become part of the most notable nature tourism destinations based on the design of unique tourism products.
In this sense, the official highlighted that Cuba has a high rate of ecosystem conservation, high levels of endemism and a rich biodiversity.
García Granda indicated that the use of accessible and inclusive nature tourism based on natural and heritage resources should be promoted in the country. He also ruled that all this must go hand in hand with respect for ecosystems, as well as the customs and traditions of rural communities.
The opening day of Turnat 2022 featured talks and presentations by international experts on nature tourism trends and their characteristics in the largest of the Antilles.
In addition to Manuel Marrero and Juan Carlos García Granda, the Commander of the Revolution, Guillermo García Frías; Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment; Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Havana; and Reinaldo García Zapata, governor of the province.
