Regime announces sale of fuel in Havana, only to private taxi drivers and rationed

La Habana, taxistas, combustible, venta, servicentro

MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban government will sell diesel exclusively and rationed starting this Monday, June 12, to taxi drivers in Havana who have a transport operation license.

The place to make this purchase will be the “El Futuro” service center, located on Calle 100 and Vento, in the Boyeros municipality, as the Havana government announced this Sunday through an official note shared in Facebook.

To make the purchase, the private carrier must show its operating license, and the sale will be organized in order of arrival based on a record that will be created at the service center.

Each person will be able to buy only 100 liters of diesel per vehicle, “for which reason the prohibition of carrying in canisters or containers is reiterated,” the statement warns.

The latter has caused discomfort in many taxi drivers, especially those whose tank capacity is less than 100 liters.

“I wonder, if the car has a 70-liter tank, and the sale authorization is limited to 100 liters, why the rest (that is, the 30 liters) that would remain to be added cannot be in canisters or tanks? plastics? I think that, except for the vans that pull passengers, the cars do not have 100-liter tanks, I think they should check that, because if they limited the sale to 100 liters, it does not matter if the taxi driver takes it in the tank of his car that in a 55 gallon tank. I don’t know who came up with such barbarity, not to mention such stupidity”, said Stalin Javier Soto.

“How long do we have to continue putting up with this gasoline situation… We are going backwards more and more in all aspects. The issue of queues for shifts is exhausting, and then to throw out when it corresponds to you. In addition, losing a whole morning on it and not going to work”, questioned Dulbis Lozano.

The measure has also caused discontent among drivers who are not taxi drivers, but who are equally affected by the fuel crisis.

“Well, and individuals who are not carriers do not have the right, you go too far,” Armas Dany said in this regard.

It is worth noting that this measure comes a few days after the regime bump the prices of private transport in Havana, which caused numerous taxi drivers to go on strike.
