Technicians toured the place to delimit the plantation zone
The Municipality of Cerro Largo will reforest the Zorrilla Park site that is in front of the headquarters and sports complex of the Melo Racks Club.
The space had been devoid of trees after the eucalyptus vetustos were talled that were in danger of falling on the facilities of the institution of the Rivera of the Convents stream.
“Today we are taking another step, the prior to what will be the reforestation of this area. After the extraction of the trunks that were here for 10 or 15 years and of the carving of the trees that were at risk of falling on the facilities of the rowers. Happy because we are with the two technicians, one that has the projection of the new Rambla that will be built quickly here and the other that is in charge of the municipal nursery” said Olivera Rober.
“They will be the ones that will define the species that are going to be planted here and the layout where the corresponding plantation will be made” commented. “Now the area to reforest will be delimited. Then we will convene, through the Director of Culture, to the teaching centers near the Zorrilla Park to interact with us, so that they take over and have a sense of belonging. There ends our management. We leave the land ready and make the corresponding contacts” The manager of the clean Melo added.
Delimit plantation zone
“The work of the Rambla has a component by administration, that is to say that they are works that the intention must be carried out on the other hand, and one of the items to be executed is the forest part because it is a job that is normally done with great satisfaction.” He commented Architect Federico Ávila.
“In that sense we begin to delimit the areas to reforest that they will not be the only ones.” clarified. “Yes, we are establishing places where we have the security that when the machines begin to travel, we do not have to be later regretting that what we planted should transplant or remove it. We are making sure that the places that we are going to work on now are dead points in terms of subsequent intervention” explained.
The Chief of the Intendencia Projects Division recalled that the new Rambla will maintain the route of the current one. “We can run one or two meters to one side or another. We must bear in mind that sidewalks will be incorporated. That is why we are now only marking what we are going to plant and that we are not at risk that we have to play later.”
Ávila announced that then there will be more reforestation actions in the area when the execution of the project whose investment will demand about 8 million dollars.
Native and exotic non -invasive species
“We are going to make reforestation with mostly native species” He advanced the Forest Technician Gabriel Fagúndez.
“Now we are rethinking the area to take advantage of the time: we are in autumn, the winter is coming that is the best time to plant and be able to get ahead with some plantations that could even have been done before but we have to do them now. It is important to get ahead” He stressed.
“We do not handle number of trees, but we have enough quantity. The trees that were projected to plant here are already made in the nursery 4 or 5 years ago. We are very good for trees” assured. “Native species will be used, similar to others that are in the environment itself and some exotic that are not invasive” The nursery manager reported
