Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the appointment of Matt Hicks as its president and CEO. Hicks, previously executive vice president of Red Hat Products and Technologies, succeeds Paul Cormier, who will serve as Red Hat’s chairman.

Hicks joined the company’s IT team in 2006, where today he is seen as a proactive leader. Cormier will continue to work alongside Arvind Krishna, president and CEO of IBM, in that capacity. Both Cormier and Hicks will report directly to Krishna.
