A group of 100 volunteers participated in a training offered by the Red Cross with the aim of strengthening their response capabilities in emergency situations.
The ECRE (Community Emergency Response Team) workshop, which lasted one week, is a training designed to provide its participants with practical skills and fundamental knowledge to act effectively in cases of an event.
According to the press release sent by the organization, participants received training in basic search and rescue techniques, fire safety and initial handling of critical situations.
They also learned about individual, family and community preparedness before, during and after a disaster, as well as organization and teamwork to coordinate more effective responses, strengthening participants’ capacity to support their communities in real scenarios.

“The Red Cross is on the first line of response, therefore our volunteers have to be prepared to respond in the communities when necessary,” highlighted Nelson Aly, Head of the Delegation of the International Federation of the Red Cross in Venezuela.
In the last 3 years, the Red Cross has trained more than 300 volunteers under this methodology, who have replicated this knowledge in their branches and locations, promoting community resilience at the national level. With this new cohort, the organization reaffirms its commitment to consolidating a strong, professional Red Cross prepared to provide humanitarian support when it is needed most.
