During the afternoon of this Thursday, a forest fire develops in the commune of Castro, Los Lagos Region, which affects the Camilo Henríquez population and has damaged about 25 homes.
Likewise, according to the National Emergency Office (Onemi), the fire has consumed an estimated area of 0.5 hectares of vegetation. Given the antecedents, the Presidential Delegation of Los Lagos, in coordination with Onemi, decreed a red alert in the commune.
The fire started in the native forest near the town, but the strong south wind and low pressure from the taps caused it to spread to a large number of homes.
As a result of the accident, the Camilo Henríquez population was evacuated. This process was reinforced by sending a message from the Emergency Alert System (SAE) issued at 5:17 pm today.
Firefighters from Castro, Dalcahue, Chonchi, Quellón, Queilén, Puqueldón and Ancud are working to fight the fire; three technicians, two brigades and a helicopter from Conaf; Carabineros and SAMU.
