The Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), decreed a Red Alert for the commune of La Estrella, O’Higgins region, as a result of a forest fire that is currently affecting the area.
According to information from the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), the forest loss has already affected nearly four hectares of land and “presents extreme behavior threatening people, homes and infrastructure in the sector.”
Specifically, the regional director of Senapred, Marcelo Montecinos, reported that “up to the minute the level of affectation is six houses burned. However, there is a threat of fire close to ten houses, therefore, the situation could be quite serious “.
Due to the seriousness of the fire, the O’Higgins presidential delegation decreed the Red Alert measure to expedite the arrival of resources. Meanwhile, five brigades, different air resources and firefighters are working at the scene.
“All necessary and available resources will be mobilized, in additional support to what has already been deployed by Conaf, Firefighters and the National Disaster Prevention and Response System. In this way, action will be taken to control the situation, given the extent and severity of the event “, they sentenced from Senapred.
