Santo Domingo.-The construction work of the «Christ Park«, a recreation park built by the Government in the capital sector of Christ the Kingadvance at an accelerated pace, while residents of the “las 70” neighborhood highlight the importance of the project.
The work begins on Tiradentes Avenue and will cover more than a kilometer along Padre Ignacio Street, until it connects with the National Zoological Park.

«It is an important work, because it will serve as a space for many residents of the area who do not have a place to go. This is a project that has been in the making for many years,” said an owner of a rubber center located in that sector.
The Government will invest in the project the sum of 440 million pesos and the works will cover the sanitation of a ravine that crosses the sector, according to sources linked to the project.
Cristo Rey is a sector with a fairly high level of poverty and crime, located in the northern part of the city of Santo Domingo (National District), for which the Government, through the Ministry of the Interior and Police, launched the last year a program that seeks to reduce criminal acts in the capital sector.
“When the park opens, the residents here will finally have a place to go to recreate in a healthy way,” said José Linares, owner of a local cafeteria.
The work is carried out by the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD), according to government reports.
